RecentlyPostedJobs vs Remote OK
Why RecentlyPostedJobs is better than Remote OK at finding newly posted software, data science and AI jobs.
A high-volume remote aggregator. Fast to scan, easy to confuse scrape date with first-posted date.
| When you are looking | Remote OK | RecentlyPostedJobs |
|---|---|---|
| Where jobs come from | Multiple remote sources | Official career portals |
| What “new” means | When Remote OK ingested it | Employer first-published, last 7 days |
| Same job posted again | Re-ingestion can look new | Requisition id blocks it |
| Where you apply | Outbound link, source varies | Employer job page |
| Role mix | Remote jobs across functions | Software, data science, and AI |
What Remote OK is
Remote OK lists remote jobs from many sources and is often used as a public remote RSS-style board. Volume is high. Provenance and original posting dates vary by source.
Why that is a weaker way to find new jobs
An aggregator’s “new” is often “newly seen by the aggregator.” That can be a genuine new remote req, a recrawl, or a cross-post. Without a stable employer requisition id, you cannot tell. On-site software jobs are out of scope by design.
Why RecentlyPostedJobs is better
- Remote is a filter on first-seen career-site jobs, not a separate scrape of remote boards.
- The same requisition cannot re-enter as new after we have stored it.
- You can move from remote to hybrid, city, or specialty without changing datasets.
- Apply URLs are the probed employer pages.
- Aggregator ingest time is not a posting date. Ours is the employer’s first-published timestamp.
- On-site and hybrid software jobs are first-seen here too — Remote OK drops them by design.
