Job description
Software Engineer II — PointCentral
PointCentral, a subsidiary of Alarm.com, empowers property managers and businesses. As a leading provider of automation and control solutions for commercial and residential properties, we focus on enhancing property operations and improving guest experiences with cutting-edge technology. As a
Software Engineer II
on the PointCentral team, you'll build the cloud services and customer-facing experiences behind our smart property solutions. You'll work across the platform — property and unit management, smart access, device lifecycle, and the integrations that connect us to the systems our customers use to run their businesses. Every person we hire is given real responsibility and real influence; your opinion can be a big part of what we build and how we build it.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Write and maintain high-quality C#/.NET back-end services across the PointCentral platform — including property and unit management, smart access, and device lifecycle — along with the customer-facing web UIs built on top of them.
Own features end-to-end, taking them from ambiguous requirements through design, implementation, testing, release, and production support, and seeking out information and context as needed to deliver good outcomes.
Build and maintain integrations with the property management systems and partner platforms our customers rely on, designing resilient APIs and data flows.
Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution.
Participate actively in design discussions and code reviews, both receiving feedback and providing thoughtful, constructive review on peers' work.
Debug and troubleshoot issues across environments, applying reasoning to identify root causes and deliver durable fixes.
Contribute to a culture of innovation by bringing new ideas and technical improvements to the table.
Other duties as assigned.
AI-FLUENT ENGINEERING
Use AI-assisted development tools as a consistent part of your engineering workflow.
Validate AI-generated code rigorously before it reaches production: review for correctness, edge cases, security implications, and long-term maintainability.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
2+ years of professional software development experienceStrong object-oriented programming skills; professional C#/.NET experience preferred
Experience with SQL databases, including schema and application development
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
Experience with a modern front-end framework;
React
preferred
Experience with creating and maintaining unit tests
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work end-to-end, from design through delivery
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and independently
Please note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.
NICE TO HAVES
Familiarity with microservices architecture
Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or messaging technologies (Kafka is a plus)
Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools into a professional engineering workflow
Experience with observability, logging, error handling, and monitoring in production systems
Experience with external-facing APIs and/or third-party platform integrations
Experience working with IoT and hardware
Proficiency in developing high-availability, high-throughput services
