Job description
At Unity, our QA team members are the test and quality experts for feature areas. We are fully embedded and rely on communication and collaboration to help the whole team deliver quality software. We are responsible for fostering a culture of quality and facilitating the idea of challenging quality issues across the entire team.
You'll be embedded and working closely with developers for the Web Platform team. In addition to working as part of your development team, you will be part of a global Platform QA team that actively works to ensure the functionality, stability, and usability across all of Unity’s platforms.
In this role, you will engage with QA, producers, and development on test strategies and approaches for a variety of projects. You will help the team find the right balance of automated and manual testing, and contribute to the tools and processes that continually improve quality across the team. We expect you to be hands-on and empowered to dive in and solve technical testing challenges as needed.
We believe testing is a craft that requires training and skill. We invest in our employees and expect you to invest in your own professional growth. Our employees love to learn, and challenge themselves as well as each other to grow.
What you’ll be doing
Independently develop and maintain the test approach for your designated areas, balancing manual and automated coverage with your developers
Prioritise and adjust your testing as the work evolves, directing effort where it has the most effect
Review pull requests and technical designs to identify coverage gaps and surface risks early
Identify the quality information your team needs to make decisions and report on it regularly
Plan and estimate your own work, committing to what you can deliver and renegotiating scope when capacity is exceeded
Contribute to quality improvements in your team and help see them through to adoption
Coach developers on testing practice and give feedback they can act on
Build working relationships across development, product and other partner functions, taking the initiative in bringing QA into their work early
What we’re looking for
Solid grounding in QA principles and methodologies, and the judgement to apply them without close supervision
Programming experience with C#, strong enough to review developers’ code changes and maintain automated tests
Experience deriving a test approach for complex functionality from requirements and technical design
Experience raising quality standards within a team, including coaching engineers who don’t report to you
Able to justify your estimates and hold to them when priorities shift
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the early escalation of risk
You might also have
Experience with testing WebAssembly applications in browser environments
Working knowledge of the Unity Editor and building Unity projects
Programming experience with JavaScript
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and maintaining automated test suites within them
Scrum certification or experience working in a Scrum team
Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location:
Zone A: €41,800 - €52,200 EUR gross
This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions).
