Job description

The opportunity We are looking for someone passionate about quality! Would you like to be a part of our international Release Quality & Operations team? Release Management and Release QA recently became a single team, so we now own both the quality signal of a release and the mechanics of shipping it: builds, schedules, batches, PR approvals, testing, promotion and publishing across all supported versions of the Unity Editor. As a Software Test Engineer, you will be a part of a team of quality engineers who execute testing activities and help get releases out of the door. This is a role you can grow into. You will start with testing work and, with support from your lead and the wider team, take on release activities step by step as you learn how our pipelines and processes fit together. Here at Unity, we will help you grow your understanding of software engineering, quality and release operations. Within the role, you will also have plenty of opportunities to expand your technical skills and directly affect the quality experience for our users. What you'll be doing Quality and testing Create and develop focused, comprehensive, well-structured test plans for your area, working with your lead to set priorities. Partner with remote development teams and QA members across the business to explore and understand new and existing Unity features. Perform real-world scenario testing using the Unity Engine as our users do, to focus specifically on usability issues. Investigate and report valid issues, supplying detailed information in associated issue reports. Implement Quality Assurance reports. Release operations - you will be guided through these and take on more ownership as you gain confidence: Help promote builds through our release pipelines, following established processes and checklists. Help publish releases, checking that what ships matches what was verified and approved. Support the release schedule and the batches that go into each release, helping track what is ready and what is still outstanding. Raise anything that looks wrong during a release, however small — asking early is always the right call. Team and improvement Innovate, influence and assist the team with constant process improvements. Share what you learn as you go, and make use of the learning opportunities and knowledge sharing available across the team. What we're looking for Excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable working within an international team and will need to be proficient in both written and spoken English. Strong analytical skills, motivation, high level of dedication, a proactive and positive attitude, critical thinking ability and problem solving skills. A working understanding of Unity3D software and an eagerness to deepen it. Familiarity with QA and development tools such as Jira/Confluence, Qase, Jenkins and GitHub. Good problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach. Care for accuracy and process. Release work depends on following steps precisely, keeping clear records, and flagging anything unexpected. You might also have Experience of one or more of the following technologies: Unreal; any 3D Engine; or any programming language. Background in Games development. Experience working in a distributed team. Some exposure to build pipelines or CI systems such as Jenkins, or to code review workflows in Git. This is not a requirement - we will teach you. Base Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location: Zone A: €29,000 - €36,200 EUR gross This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
