Job description

With roughly seven out of eight enterprise workloads still running on-premises or on mainframe, the opportunity to help the world's largest organizations move to the cloud is enormous. AWS Transform is building a platform that combines AI-driven automation with deep infrastructure and software engineering to analyze, plan, and execute large-scale application migrations. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on this team, you will work across the full stack, from designing the distributed systems and services that power migration workflows to building the intelligent agents that reason about complex legacy environments. You will own the end-to-end technical direction of major features, from working backwards from customer needs through system design, implementation, testing, and production operations. Your work will directly shape how enterprises transition their most critical workloads to AWS, and you will collaborate closely with go-to-market teams, professional services, and partner organizations to ensure the solutions you build translate into real customer outcomes. If you are excited about solving ambiguous, high-impact problems that demand both strong systems engineering and applied AI skills, we would love to hear from you. Key job responsibilities - Design, build, and operate distributed services and AI-powered agents that analyze legacy codebases, plan migration strategies, and execute transformations end to end. - Own your team's architectural direction, making trade-offs across scalability, performance, and security while driving alignment with dependent teams on shared interfaces and infrastructure. - Write well-documented, production-quality code and lead design and code reviews that raise the engineering bar across the team, ensuring solutions are testable and easy for others to extend. - Collaborate with go-to-market teams, professional services, and cross-functional engineering groups to translate customer requirements into product features and deliver them incrementally. - Coach and mentor engineers on the team, share technical knowledge broadly, and contribute to recruiting efforts that strengthen the organization. A day in the life Your morning might start with a design review for a new service component that automates a migration step previously done by hand. After aligning on the approach with a colleague, you shift to writing and reviewing code, working on infrastructure plumbing one hour and refining an agent's decision logic the next. In the afternoon you join a sync with a go-to-market partner to discuss feedback from an enterprise customer pilot, then wrap up by updating operational dashboards and tuning alerts for a service your team recently launched. About the team AWS Transform sits within the Agentic AI organization at Amazon Web Services and is focused on building the next generation of autonomous migration services. The team partners closely with go-to-market, professional services, and enterprise customers to turn complex modernization challenges into repeatable, well-engineered solutions that blend systems infrastructure with applied AI. We are at an early and exciting stage of product development, which means your contributions will directly shape the platform's architecture and roadmap. We value curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to experiment, and we are committed to building an inclusive environment where every team member can do their best work.
