Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Network Observability

Google Cloud's network operates at a massive global scale, and the Cloud Network Observability team gives customers deep visibility into their virtual networks running on it. We build Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) Flow Logs, Firewall Rules Logging and Cloud NAT logging, and provide the telemetry behind Network Intelligence Center tools such as Network Topology and Performance Dashboard. Customers use our products for network monitoring, security analysis, forensics and cost optimization. Our work combines large-scale, real-time data processing with customer-facing product design, so engineers see their impact directly in how enterprises run their networks. Design, build, and launch features for Google Cloud network observability products such as VPC Flow Logs, Cloud Next Generation Firewall logging, and Cloud NAT logging. Write and test code for large-scale, real-time data processing systems that turn network telemetry into logs and metrics customers rely on. Work with product managers and partner engineering teams to understand customer needs and turn them into technical designs. Keep production services healthy by monitoring, debugging, and resolving issues, including taking part in the on-call rotation. Use AI tools to improve how you design, build, test, and operate software. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages. 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture. 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or related technical field. 3 years of experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems. 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role. Experience in computer networking, including an understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP), network topologies, and network management principles. Experience in developer productivity, observability, or cloud infrastructure.
