Job description
Job Overview At Arm, we develop technology that enables software and applications to run across billions of devices worldwide, from cloud to edge. We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop and enable next-generation automotive cockpit applications, including intelligent cockpit systems and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), on Arm-based platforms. In this hands-on role, you will work across the automotive software stack, including Automotive Linux, Android Automotive, hypervisors, application frameworks, and cloud connectivity. You will develop, integrate, optimize, and evaluate software on automotive-grade SoCs supporting multiple virtual machines (VMs) and system domains. You will also use virtual platforms and pre-silicon environments to support early software development and system validation. You will collaborate with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, operating system vendors, and application developers to enable automotive workloads on Arm-based platforms. Your work will involve identifying and resolving technical challenges across software layers, from applications and operating systems to hypervisors, firmware, hardware accelerators, and Arm architecture. As intelligent cockpit systems continue to evolve, you will have opportunities to work with AI-enabled applications and technologies, including AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and multimodal AI. Prior experience developing AI or machine learning models is not required. Your contributions will help bring automotive applications to Arm platforms, improve software performance and compatibility, and provide technical insights that shape future Arm products, tools, and developer experiences. Key Responsibilities Develop and deploy full-stack automotive software components on automotive Linux, Android Automotive OS, QNX, or similar operating systems. Develop multi-OS and multi-VM automotive architectures by applying technologies such as Xen, KVM, QNX Hypervisor, or Type-1 hypervisors. Enable and integrate automotive cockpit applications and services such as in-vehicle infotainment, DMS/OMS pipelines, and agentic cockpit applications. Perform comprehensive system debugging, profiling, benchmarking, and assessment of performance spanning the application layer to the operating system, hypervisor, firmware, and hardware architecture. Identify performance constraints and integration issues across application layers, CPUs, accelerators, memory systems, and I/O devices. Collaborate directly with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, software vendors, and application developers to clarify requirements, identify and address issues, develop proofs of concept, or reference implementations. Necessary Skills and Experience Strong professional experience developing and integrating software for automotive, embedded, mobile, robotics, or other complex edge-computing platforms. Extensive knowledge of Linux systems, covering kernel, processes, threads, scheduling, memory management, device drivers, IPC, filesystems, networking, and system debugging. Practical experience in at least one automotive or embedded operating-system setting, such as Automotive Linux, Android or Android Automotive OS, QNX. Extensive experience handling virtualization or hypervisor platforms such as Xen, KVM, QNX Hypervisor, or a comparable system. Understanding of multi-VM system architecture, device virtualization, virtual I/O, shared memory, interrupt handling, resource partitioning, and inter-VM communication. Experience in automotive cockpit or IVI software development. Strong system-level debugging and performance-analysis skills across complex software stacks. Experience using relevant debugging and profiling tools. Knowledge of application-to-hardware system architectures and the capability to identify issues spanning applications, frameworks, middleware, operating systems, hypervisors, firmware, and hardware. Experience integrating and validating software on development boards and virtual platforms
