We are currently seeking a Software Engineer to develop and support technical solutions for our Canadian Operations business group. As a Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in modernizing our technology stack while maintaining mission-critical legacy systems. You'll work on developing robust desktop applications and leveraging AI-driven tools to accelerate development and drive digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate is an IT professional with a passion for solving business problems, creating world-class technical solutions, and embracing emerging technologies. What You'll Do Develop, enhance, and maintain Desktop and Java applications supporting Canadian Operations business processes Embrace legacy applications and leverage AI technologies to enhance functionalities Lead modernization initiatives by integrating AI and machine learning tools into development workflows Collaborate with Agile team members to deliver high-quality, scalable applications Execute full-cycle development activities: coding, testing, debugging, and implementation Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and develop automation tools to ensure system reliability Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and technical optimization Professional Experience Minimum 4 years of hands-on work experience in an enterprise IT environment, preferably in financial services Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining desktop applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Core Technical Skills .NET Stack: Proficiency in C# and .NET Framework (4.5+) or .NET Core development Understanding of Windows Registry operations and Windows Services configuration Windows-based application deployment and troubleshooting Java Development: Strong proficiency in Java (version 8 or later) Hands-on experience with service integration using SOAP and REST APIs Working knowledge of Java libraries and frameworks for enterprise applications Database Management: Strong proficiency with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) Experience writing optimized queries and database design principles Development Tools & Methodologies: Version control systems (Git/BitBucket) CI/CD pipeline tools and Jenkins experience Agile development methodology and practices Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills AI & Modern Development Skills Proven experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) Understanding of AI/ML applications in software development and code optimization Experience implementing AI-assisted code generation and optimization techniques Nice-to-have skills Mainframe technology knowledge Experience in legacy system modernization and refactoring VB6 or other legacy technology experience Professional Attributes Continuous improvement mindset with genuine interest in business processes Ability to balance maintaining legacy systems with implementing cutting-edge solutions Strong problem-solving capabilities and technical adaptability Accountability for delivering reliable, maintainable code What is in it for you?
