Job description

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Google's Global Network Infrastructure powers the world's largest compute, storage, and AI/ML workloads, spanning hyperscale data centers, optical networks, subsea cables, and the edge. Network Delivery Engineering is the critical operational bridge between upstream network technology development and downstream global deployment. As Google's AI/ML and Cloud infrastructure scales, we are fundamentally re-engineering how we deliver networks, transforming our delivery engine from bespoke execution to a high-throughput, predictable production system. Our mission is to re-engineer delivery for throughput. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will be the lead architect re-engineering our end-to-end network delivery lifecycle. At the intersection of network engineering, process engineering, and systems thinking, you will treat the entire delivery pipeline, from architectural intent and New Product Introduction (NPI) to material orchestration, automated provisioning, and field turnup, as a single integrated system. You will diagnose bottlenecks, redesign cross-functional workflows, define automation requirements, and standardize engineering standards to unlock step-function gains in delivery velocity, quality, and scale. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $240000 - $333000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google . Apply systems thinking to map and re-engineer the end-to-end network delivery value stream across data centers, AI/ML fabrics, and WAN, unifying hardware design, planning, supply chain, software, and field execution. Lead high-impact transformations using process engineering methodologies (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) to compress Concept-to-GA cycle times, eliminating manual handoffs and systemic rework. Re-architect onboarding for next-generation hardware, optical interconnects, and SDN software, embedding zero-touch automation and testability upstream into design phases (EVT/DVT/PVT). Partner with engineering teams to translate processes into automated workflows and AI-enabled guardrails, while defining metrics and feedback loops to predict delivery risks and drive root-cause elimination. Serve as an Executive Staff Advisor, resolving high-ambiguity technical deadlocks across Platform Engineering, Supply Chain, and Global Operations at the VP/Director level. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 10 years of experience in program management. Experience in technical program management or process engineering for physical products, hardware systems, network/data center infrastructure, or manufacturing/supply chain operations. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Operations Research, or a related technical field. 15 years of experience architecting hyperscale network deployment, hardware/software integration, or supply chain delivery systems. Experience at a Principal (Senior Staff) level, synthesizing ambiguous, cross-organizational challenges into actionable roadmaps and influencing VP/Director-level stakeholders. Deep expertise in systems thinking, with a proven ability to redesign complex, interdependent workflows to eliminate systemic bottlenecks and failure modes. Track record of achieving step-function improvements (e.g., cycle-time reduction) in hyperscale data center or global telecom environments.
