Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Front-End Software Engineer AI to join the CoCounsel team. We are building the next generation of AI agentic products for legal professionals. The team takes early concepts and turns them into scalable, production-ready features.
As a Senior Front-end Engineer you will own the client architecture for streaming agent interactions, from the React UI to how it ships to production. You will be working on our cutting-edge Litigation Drafting products which are leading the market by combining a complex workflow style UI with an advanced legal agent. The UI drives a long running process with frequent human input, and our innovative front end is responsible for making this feel intuitive, responsive and controllable during challenging drafting tasks.
We are looking for team players with a strong sense of urgency and a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment who will drive the delivery of timely solutions. You are empowered to try new approaches and learn new technologies. You will have agency to contribute innovative ideas, create solutions, and will be accountable for end-to-end deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Build AI-Powered Front-End Systems:
You’ll turn event streams (SSE and AG-UI protocol events) into fast, resilient interfaces, understand the agent runtimes behind them (Claude Agent SDK, AgentCore).
Shape Front End Architecture:
Contribute to a talented team of Front-End engineers and architects across the broader CoCounsel team and help drive the innovation of agentic UI design
Productionize AI Capabilities:
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for the front end and agent-facing infrastructure. Run deployments and smoke tests. Help build end-to-end Playwright tests for scale testing and build observability into client and delivery process.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
Partner closely with our Labs team, product managers, and designers to take early AI agent concepts and turn them into scalable, production-ready features for our products
Mentor Engineers:
Raise the bar for the team through code review, design docs, mentoring, and well-tested shared components
Required Qualifications
Technical Experience:
4+ years of front-end engineering experience, including significant production work in React and TypeScript to build products used by real customers. Track record of building performant UIs under rapid, continuous updates.
Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience with the AG-UI protocol or comparable agent-UI protocols and SDKs. Strong proficiency in SSE events, Claude Agent SDK, AgentCore, AWS or Azure Cloud services. Hands-on experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines for production web applications (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, or similar), including automated testing and safe release practices. Experience modeling complex async client states.
Technical Judgment:
Excellent debugging skills and a proven ability to deliver production-ready, highly reliable systems.
Collaboration & Communication:
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, iterative environments, with strong cross-functional communication skills. Strong product sense and the ability to work from ambiguous requirements to a polished, accessible interface
Preferred Qualifications
BA or BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Knowledge of backend streaming patterns (Node, Python/FastAPI, etc.) sufficient to debug end to end
Experience with feature flags (e.g. Launch Darkly) and canary releases
Familiarity with tool calling, structured outputs, MCP, and streaming partial JSON parsing
Experience with Datadog (logs/RUM/traces), CloudWatch Log Insights, and Braintrust
Strong opinions on testing, automation, and operational robustness
Prior experience working on products for legal, compliance, or other regulated professional domains
