Job description

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology. Drive environmental requirements across development teams, testing labs, suppliers, and manufacturing partners. Troubleshoot compliance issues, coordinating solutions with internal and external engineering teams and partners/suppliers. Define and oversee hardware certification test requirements and validation testing reports for accuracy, completeness, and ensure all mandatory requirements are properly accounted for in filing packages. Communicate certification status and issues in a clear, succinct, and timely manner to all impacted teams. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience in restricted substances (e.g. RoHS, REACH), energy efficiency (e.g. ErP, BCS), or conflict minerals. 2 years of experience with consumer electronics. Experience working with one or more regulatory/voluntary certification activities (e.g., CE, EMC/RF/SAR (FCC)). Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in an Engineering (Chemical, Material, Environmental, etc.) field or a related technical discipline. Experience in toxicology and biocompatibility of materials, skin sensitization, PFAS, etc. Experience with regulatory processes related to and launching mass produced consumer electronics. Familiar with voluntary initiatives: IEEE 1680, UL 110, Eco logo. Ability and experience coordinating team members from multiple disciplines to complete compliance necessary processes and documentation.
