Job description
Amazon Robotics is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a full stack development team within our Robotic Movement organization. In this role, you will own end-to-end delivery of services and features that power fulfillment robotic solutions, from front-end user experiences to back-end distributed systems. You will define the technical vision and roadmap for your team's software, tackle ambiguous problems across the stack, and partner with product managers, UX designers, and peer engineering teams to ship reliable, high-performance software at scale. If you are a builder who is energized by both growing engineers and shaping architecture, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how Amazon moves products to customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of full stack software engineers, creating an inclusive environment of technical excellence and continuous improvement across front-end applications, APIs, microservices, and data layers.
- Own the 1–2 year technical roadmap for your team's software systems, defining the charter, vision, and priorities that align with Amazon Robotics' broader organizational goals.
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to understand business goals, translate them into clear requirements, and deliver high-quality functionality that improves the fulfillment robotics experience.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, UX designers, peer engineering teams, and senior leadership to align on priorities, negotiate trade-offs, and deliver cohesive solutions.
- Raise the bar on engineering practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness while establishing metrics and audit mechanisms that keep systems reliable and maintainable.
A day in the life
You will start your morning reviewing operational dashboards for your team's services before joining a design review where engineers walk through trade-offs on a new microservice integration. After providing technical guidance and unblocking a cross-team dependency with a peer robotics team, you shift to a 1:1 with a direct report to discuss their development goals. In the afternoon, you collaborate with product and other stakeholders to refine upcoming priorities for a fulfillment robotics feature, then close the day drafting a roadmap narrative that connects your team's work to Amazon sites mapping strategic objectives.
About the team
The Robotic Movement team within Amazon Robotics builds the software that controls how robots move, operate, and interact within Amazon's fulfillment network. We are focused on delivering scalable, full stack solutions that make fulfillment faster and more reliable for customers worldwide. Our team values an inclusive culture where engineers at every level feel empowered to propose ideas, challenge assumptions, and grow their careers. If you are excited about leading a team that combines technical rigor with a genuine investment in people, this is the place for you.
