Job description
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.
Drive and manage the overall product quality and reliability strategy for Google Pixel phones during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases through post-launch.
Partner closely with Tech Engineers, Product Manager (PM), and Engineering Infrastructure (EI) PM to define clear quality standards, execute validation plans, and align engineering designs with critical product requirements.
Collaborate with EPMs, OPMs, and Operation Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to ensure seamless execution, identify and mitigate manufacturing risks early, and support successful product ramp-ups.
Work closely with the EFFA (Early Failure Field Analysis) Lab to rapidly root-cause field failures, implement corrective actions, and continuously feed quality improvements back into the development lifecycle.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience as a technical program manager in a product quality setting.
3 years of experience with failure analysis (FA) and root cause analysis (RCA), including experience with EFFA.
Experience with consumer hardware and cross-functional teams, including engineering, industrial/product design in module development, or vendor development/management.
Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time as required.
Preferred qualifications:
10 years of shipping high-volume consumer electronics, driving cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex design challenges as a proactive Product Quality (PQ) advocate.
Deep expertise in Design for Quality (DFQ) and Strategic Risk Management using early detection sensitivity (NUDD/CTQ) during concept phases.
Strong product planning experience (PQP/QFMEA/IQC/OQC), managing functional engineering teams while scaling high-quality standards with CM, ODM, and OEM partners.
Led Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA) to resolve latent failures, enhancing Annualized Return Rate (ARR) prediction accuracy via REL, Dogfood, and MDP data.
