Job description

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams. Google Cloud provides organizations with leading infrastructure, platform capabilities and industry solutions. We deliver enterprise-grade cloud solutions that leverage Google’s technology to help companies operate more efficiently and adapt to changing needs, giving customers a foundation for the future. Customers in more than 150 countries turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to solve their most critical business problems. Google is transforming how hyperscale data centers are planned, designed, and built from custom, stick-built, multi-year construction monoliths to manufactured, modular, just-in-time deployments of fungible capacity. The Product Development and Insertion (PDI) organization under Data Center Technology and Systems (DCTS) is the execution arm of the development of such fungible capacity. PDI, working alongside the different pillars within DCTS, drives and provides end-to-end ownership of the various products and programs that will enable the future modular technology for Google Cloud. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $192000 - $278000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google . Execute scope for cross-functional product development of new products and programs to address undefined challenges with limited guidance. Lead products through the product life-cycle process (e.g., concept, development, launch) driving scope, schedule, cost, and resource management, using existing processes. Work with upstream and downstream partner teams across data centers, supply chain, construction and execution teams, hardware, and software operations to establish a streamlined supply chain and reliable deployments that meet cost. Manage the controls roadmap from initial concept and hardware selection through to end-of-life/obsolescence planning. Evaluate and hold vendors accountable for firmware quality, hardware reliability, and compliance with technical specifications. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in program management. 5 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports. Preferred qualifications: 8 years of experience managing cross-functional/team projects.
