Introduction to the Team
Expedia Group B2B connects partners across the travel industry to our leading technology, supply, and services - helping them deliver seamless travel experiences to their customers. From airlines and hotels to financial institutions and other travel platforms, we power smarter, faster, and more impactful travel solutions through the most connected marketplace in the world.
As a Software Development Engineer III, you will be a high-performing individual contributor and a technical anchor on your team. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and apply modern engineering principles to evolve the systems that power our partner ecosystem. Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and growth of B2B technology.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain complex software applications across multiple languages and technology platforms, ensuring they meet design and performance requirements.
Build and maintain APIs consumed across the business unit, applying strong knowledge of software design principles, data structures, and design patterns.
Lead code reviews and guide code evolution, championing clean, maintainable, modular, and optimized code.
Debug, test, and resolve application issues within established SLAs, leveraging testing and monitoring tools at the project level.
Design software that is easily testable and observable, applying a whole-systems approach to ensure all components — structure, people, process, and technology — are considered.
Identify inefficiencies in code or system operations and proactively suggest and implement improvements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across the organization to understand dependencies, align on shared solutions, and contribute to community of practice initiatives.
Compile and communicate findings on major operational or technical initiatives (such as Root Cause Analyses) to both technical and non-technical audiences, via written or oral means.
Connect team goals to broader business needs, identifying business problems at the project level and delivering effective solutions.
Continuously develop technical expertise and share new knowledge with the team to drive overall effectiveness.
Experience and Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
5+ years of software development experience (or 3+ years with a Master's degree in a related technical field or equivalent related professional experience).
Experience developing software in at least 3 different programming languages.
Experience maintaining and operating at least 4 software projects or products in production environments, including bug fixing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
Proficient communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to varied audiences.
Preferred:
Demonstrated strength in one or more languages with multiple technology implementations.
Experience designing moderately complex distributed systems and working with databases and database design principles.
Familiarity with B2B technology platforms or partner-facing APIs.
Familiarity with front end technologies such as React.
Active participation in engineering communities of practice or mentorship programs.
