What You Will Do
We are seeking a Software Engineer for our Avionics Software Tools Team based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The team supports Avionics development teams and simulations across Commercial Business Jets, Air Transport aircraft and Mission Systems aircraft programs. Our tools are used to develop features in avionics products, test avionics systems and produce Avionics software configuration files for products.
These tools are used by engineers across Collins Aerospace and by our Aircraft manufacturing customers and aircraft operators. We produce a continuum of technologies and tools to provide desktop and cloud Avionics environments, enable Avionics test stands, flight deck system integration facilities and DO-330 qualified tools that produce and verify configuration files for Avionics products. We serve and support a broad range of Avionics products within Collins. This is a great role in getting experience across the entire breadth of our Avionics organization.
This is an Onsite role based at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Work in a team focused on innovation and production of software tools that enable Avionics airborne software development, verification and production.
Code, test, and provide ongoing support for simulation software and Avionics configuration tools to meet technical and customer requirements.
Implement DevOps tools and processes in Avionics engineering and apply technologies to automate and streamline avionics software production.
Develop tools and testing infrastructures that support automated build and continuous integration, and test using a variety of languages including Python, Java and C/C++.
Collaborate using software configuration management tools and DevOps tools such as Git, GitMR, Artifactory, Jama, Grafana and Docker in a cross-platform environment including Linux and Windows.
What You Will Learn
You will gain experience in Cert DevOps, developing and contributing to new methods, technologies and techniques to automate software testing and verification.
You will be part of a team that integrates virtual Avionics environments on desktop PCs and AWS to enable continuous test and integration, that are used in flight deck design, product creation, and customer demonstrations that show what Collins Avionics products are capable of.
Entry into embedded safety critical software development through developing unqualified and DO-330 qualified software tools that are used to test airborne software, produce configuration files for airborne software, avionics network switches, and end systems.
You will work on aircraft that span across the industry—business jets, commercial aircraft, and military aircraft, gain exposure to teams and departments, broadening your skillset and expand your professional network.
You will learn how current generation Avionics test rigs are designed and built and contribute to the design of next generation of test rigs that will incorporate new technologies, new challenges and serve new customers.
Qualifications You Must Have
