Member of Technical Staff, Backend wanted in Palo Alto, California to Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend software systems and infrastructure that support scalable enterprise applications and conversational AI platforms. Duties include: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend software services and application programming interfaces (APIs) to support production software applications; Build and operate distributed systems that support real time data processing, system workflows, and application integrations; Develop and maintain cloud based and containerized backend infrastructure to ensure system scalability, reliability, and availability; Implement data storage, retrieval, and caching solutions using relational and non relational databases to support backend services; Collaborate with cross functional teams, including applied research, product management, frontend engineering, and infrastructure teams, to translate functional requirements into backend system implementations; Develop internal tools, pipelines, and automation frameworks to support continuous integration, continuous deployment, system monitoring, and operational efficiency; Monitor system performance and reliability; troubleshoot and resolve production issues; and implement improvements to meet performance, uptime, and latency requirements; Participate in incident response activities, including on call rotations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation; Ensure backend systems comply with security, data protection, and access control requirements; Document system architecture, design decisions, and operational procedures to support ongoing maintenance and future development. Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Required experience includes five (5) years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in software engineering or backend systems development. Experience must involve each of the following: Developing, testing, and maintaining backend software services and application programming interfaces (APIs) for production applications; Designing and implementing distributed systems to support scalable, high availability applications; Working with data storage technologies, including relational and/or non relational databases, to support backend services; Deploying and operating backend systems in cloud based or containerized environments; Monitoring, debugging, and resolving issues in production software systems; Collaborating with cross functional teams to translate functional requirements into backend technical solutions. **Employer will accept a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience.
