Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for the Nuclear Surety team. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program . This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. The ideal candidate is a team player; but also, a strong independent contributor with strong leadership skills, demonstrated problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to : Decompose Department of Defense safety manuals into system requirements and allocate them to design teams for implementation Provide systems-engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a cruise missile Lead technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, and supportability analyses for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems Evaluate physical-security designs against DoD safety manuals and ensure compliance with nuclear-surety criteria Interface directly with DoD and DOE stakeholders to guarantee safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems Utilize model-based engineering tools (MBSE, DOORS, Cameo, etc.) to develop, maintain, and trace requirements and verification plans Drive requirement changes through the Configuration Management process, ensuring consistency in the requirements database Perform capability-assessment evaluations, non-compliance adjudication, and cross-program collaboration Support subcontractors and lower-level development entities to ensure designs meet AF/DoD nuclear-weapon criteria Conduct N² analyses, trade studies, and functional-block-diagram development to inform design decisions Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 3 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 1 year of relevant experience Must be a US Citizen with an active US Government Secret Clearance , at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g., AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107) Minimum 3 years of experience performing electrical or software analyses/testing and verification of requirements, and at least 3 years using requirements/MBSE tools such as DOORS, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, or Capitol Preferred Qualifications: Active DoD Top Secret Clearance 5+ years of systems-engineering experience, including requirements management, functional-block-diagram development, verification & validation, and trade-study execution 5+ years of experience with MBSE and associated tools (DOORS, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol) for requirements development and traceability Experience supporting major program events (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR) and conducting capability assessments, non-compliance adjudication, and cross-program collaboration Position Benefits As a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including: Medical, Dental & Vision coverage 401k Educational Assistance Life Insurance Employee Assistance Programs & Work/Life Solutions Paid Time Off Health & Wellness Resources Employee Discounts https://www.northropgrumman.com/who-we-are/total-rewards-benefits/ This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. #Sentinelsystems Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
