Job description

About the Role: This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2027. Resume review begins in October 2026. What You’ll Do As a co-op on the Data Science and Applied Machine Learning team focused on Digital Health Technologies (DHT) and Product Development/Readiness, you will contribute to the development, integration, and testing of emerging technology products. Your primary focus will be hands-on development engineering for products integrating sensor, algorithmic, and agentic technologies. You will also gain exposure to the broader work of bringing digital health technologies and other technical capabilities toward product readiness. Day to day: Write and test code for agent backend components, APIs, and tool integrations. Investigate technical issues, review outputs from partner teams, and document what you find. End to end: Learn how technical components are developed, integrated, tested, and assessed for product use. With guidance, you will translate requirements into implementation and testing tasks and communicate results to the team. Deliverable: Contribute a backend component, integration, prototype, or testing tool, supported by documented code, test results, known limitations, and recommended follow-up work. The team will determine product readiness and next steps. Example projects may include: Agent backend and harness: Help build services or utilities that connect an agent to tools, manage execution, capture results, and support repeatable testing. DHT data integration: Help test how data from a digital health technology is received, structured, and checked for completeness or consistency. Model-to-product integration: Assist in connecting a model or algorithm developed by another team to a product component, and test its interface, outputs, and error handling. Readiness support tools: Build automated checks or utilities that help the team review test results, defects, and technical dependencies. Who You Are You are pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, biomedical engineering, or a related field, and have experience programming in Python or another relevant language. You have applied software development, data analysis, or machine learning skills through coursework, research, personal projects, or prior work. Familiarity with Git, APIs, backend development, or automated testing is helpful. You are interested in AI agents and curious about how digital health technologies and other technical capabilities become reliable products. Prior experience with agents or DHTs is not required. You can explain your work clearly, document what you tried and found, and collaborate with people whose expertise differs from yours.
