We are seeking qualified candidates for an experienced systems engineer II to join our software development team for Military Flight Management. The engineer that fills this role will work primarily on the avionics software for the E-2D platform and other fixed wing platforms. This is an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Product Summary:
CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. What You Will Do:
You will develop, capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements for the addition of new and altered functionality for our fixed winged platforms.
You will create test cases and procedures to verify software implantation.
You will design requirements, software, and test verification, depending on program need.
You will develop innovative design approaches that meet customer requirements, cost targets, and product line objectives.
You will collaborate with your agile team members on the overall design process for your projects.
You will support teams of software and systems engineers to develop, integrate and release FMS software products.
You will communicate plans and status on your assigned stories to your agile team members
You will coordinate with the platform engineering team and other software domain teams to identify and track dependencies for shared features.
You will interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Finance, Quality, and Production.
You will champion knowledge sharing, elevating department expertise through both formal training and informal mentoring.
You will have a willingness to travel (domestic and international <10%).

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience
or
an Advanced Degree in a related field.
Experience with Python scripting.
Experience in a systems/software engineering role.
Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving requirements.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience in developing avionics displays and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).
Experience with DO-178 or similar certification-based development processes.
Familiarity with avionics data buses and protocols, including Arinc-429, Arinc-661, and MIL-STD-1553.
Experience with embedded real-time software development.
AGILE development methodology experience.
Experience with different levels of software testing, from unit-level through system integration.
Excellent, proactive, communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
Strong foundation in communication skills and team collabration

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
