Job description
AWS Identity is the bedrock of secure, continuous access to every AWS service. By authenticating millions of users worldwide, we let organizations move faster on their cloud and digital transformation without compromising on security.
The Unified Signin and Sessions team owns the authentication and session-management layer behind how customers and enterprises prove who they are across AWS. Our services power sign-in and sessions for IAM Identity Center, AWS Builder ID, and Directory Service apps - more than 70 applications - across both browser-based and agentic AI integrations. Our solutions implement latest identity standards (OAuth/OIDC, WebAuthn/FIDO2, SAML) while keeping customers access secure and seemless using multi-factor, step-up, and session management.
In this team, you will work on real, high-impact authentication services from day one, collaborating with senior engineers who invest in mentoring. You'll start with well-scoped features and grow into larger, more ambiguous problems as your judgment develops. You don't need an authentication or security background - you'll learn secure-by-design thinking here, and we'll help you build it deliberately. What you do need is curiosity, ownership, and the drive to turn ideas into working, well-tested code.
You might be a fit if you:
Write clean, correct code and want to get sharper at building distributed services.
Are curious about how large scale high available low latency services really work - APIs, backend services, and what happens under the hood.
Take ownership of your work and follow problems through to a real fix.
Are interested in identity and authentication standards (OAuth/OIDC, WebAuthn/FIDO2, SAML, TOTP) - no experience required, though any familiarity may give you a head start.
Like working with peers who both teach and learn.
What your typical week looks like:
Most of your time is spent on building : designing solutions, writing and testing code, and sharpening your judgment through design and code reviews with your team. You'll keep a security focus as you take features from design through implementation, with support from senior engineers as the problems grow larger. You'll also be hands-on with the operational side of the services you operate, so you learn to write code that's production-ready, not just IDE-friendly.
If building secure authentication at the front door of AWS sounds like a great place to grow as an engineer, let's talk.
